The Lancaster County Animal Shelter is a separate organization from Lancaster SPCA. This page is provided as a resource to help you find information about the county-operated shelter, including hours, location, adoptable pets, and contact details. The primary function of the Lancaster County Animal Shelter is to house and care for stray and surrendered animals. If stray pets are not claimed after a 5-day stray hold, the animal becomes the property of Lancaster County and are offered to animal rescues and to the public for adoption.
